People come to therapy for a variety of different reasons. Some individuals embark on a therapeutic process with specific goals in mind or because they have recently been impacted by particularly challenging life events. Others may pursue therapy and specifically creative arts psychotherapy as an ongoing process toward deeper self-knowledge, growth, and healing.
As a clinician, I believe in space for humor and honoring creativity and imagination as necessary tools for survival. I believe there is no wrong way to have a body, and that all bodies deserve care, respect, and pleasure. I hold a space for the ways our defenses and resistance can be both valuable to us, and as we change, may need our ongoing assessment to determine if they are still offering us what they once did.
Regardless of why you are considering therapy, I offer individuals and couples a harm reduction and trauma informed approach to the process through a combination of traditional talk therapy, creative arts infused therapy, and attachment-focused EMDR.
